Head Cross Country/ Asst. Basketball/ 3rd Sport

Schulenburg ISD is seeking an energetic, dedicated, and student-centered leader to join our athletic department. We are looking for a professional who will build character, foster teamwork, and promote excellence both in the classroom and on the field of competition.

Position Overview

This is a multi-sport coaching position paired with a classroom teaching assignment. The successful candidate will lead our Cross Country program while collaborating closely with the basketball staff and contributing to a third athletic program.

• 1st Sport (Head Role): Head Boys & Girls Cross Country Coach

• 2nd Sport (Assistant Role): Boys Basketball Assistant Coach

• 3rd Sport: To Be Determined (based on district needs and candidate fit)

• Teaching Field: Open (All academic certification areas considered. Note: Physical Education is not available for this position.)

Key Responsibilities

Coaching

• Direct all aspects of the high school and junior high Cross Country programs, including training plans, meet scheduling, and summer conditioning.

• Assist the Head Boys Basketball coach with practice planning, game strategy, scouting, and player development.

• Maintain high standards of student athlete conduct, academic performance, and sportsmanship.

• Manage athletic equipment, inventory, and travel logistics in accordance with district policies.

Teaching

• Deliver high-quality classroom instruction in the assigned teaching field.

• Maintain accurate student records, including grades and attendance.

• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and campus committees as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid Texas Teaching Certificate (or currently enrolled in an approved Alternative Certification Program).

• Demonstrated knowledge of UIL rules and regulations.

• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• CDL license (or willingness to obtain one) to drive the team bus to athletic events.
