Howard Payne University is seeking our next high energy and high character head volleyball coach. A relentless recruiter and builder of culture, the head coach is responsible for leading, guiding, and mentoring the women's volleyball program in a positive Christian manner, including compliance with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and American Southwest Conference (ASC) regulations. The coach accepts and delegates tasks from the Director of Athletics and Assistant Director of Athletics. The coach provides leadership for a program that contributes to the holistic development of students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities perform the following essential duties and responsibilities listed in the Job Description that follows.
- Lead the volleyball program based on proven Christian integrity and ethics consistent with the University Mission Statement
- Possess expert knowledge of skills and strategies related to volleyball
- Lead and supervise the volleyball coaching staff
- Monitor, mentor, and coach student-athletes participating in the volleyball program
- Supervise and implement the recruiting process meeting roster expectations (19 players)
- Coordinate practice schedules with Coliseum Manager
- Schedule matches with Athletic Director and/or his/her designee
- Supervise program fundraising
- Coordinate program travel with Athletic Director and/or his/her designee
- Supervise facilities and maintenance of equipment (Coliseum)
- Address safety and security concerns. Stop any activity that is dangerous to the student-athlete or other students
- Administer all budgets related to the volleyball program with Athletic Director and/or his/her designee
- Assist with supervision of Chapel
- Supervise academic success initiatives for student-athletes (class attendance, tutoring attendance, etc.)
- Seek opportunities to participate in professional organizations, activities, and development (association membership, conference attendance, publications, etc.) Represent HPU at conferences, trainings, retreats, etc.
- Evaluate volleyball program. Participate in University assessment activities, institutional effectiveness programs, and strategic planning
- May teach one to three credit hours per semester
- Coordinate compliance with all university, NCAA, and ASC policies and regulations
- Recruit and Maintain roster size according to university expectations
- Other duties may be assigned by Director of Athletics
