Position: Assistant Girls Basketball Coach - Hempstead High School
Location: Hempstead High School, Hempstead, TX
Reports to: Head Girls Basketball Coach / Athletic Director
Position Summary: Support the head coach in developing student‑athletes’ basketball skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The assistant coach will help run practices, provide individual instruction, assist with game planning and scouting, support player academic and personal development, and uphold school and district policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and conducting team practices emphasizing fundamentals (shooting, ball‑handling, footwork, defense, rebounding), conditioning, and team concepts.
Provide position‑specific and individualized skill development; monitor player progress.
Help develop game plans, scout opponents, prepare scouting reports, and assist with in‑game coaching and adjustments.
