Westminster, Maryland, The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications assists the Director of Athletic Communications as the primary point of contact for external communications for the Department of Athletics at McDaniel. This position helps manage the official website and social media channels, and acts as the primary creator and editor of video and graphic content.
Key Responsibilities
This role leads the creation and execution of multimedia content and athletic communications, serving as the primary producer of video, graphic, and social media content for assigned teams. Responsibilities include planning and managing live athletic broadcasts on the Centennial Conference Digital Network, overseeing broadcast operations and production equipment, creating content for digital platforms and in-venue displays, and serving as a strategic communications contact.
This position also supervises student workers, writes game recaps, press releases, scripts, and feature stories; manages game statistics and historical records, uses NCAA Live Stats and PrestoSports for keeping in-game statistics; staffs home events and supervises student workers; maintains athlete, coach, and staff biographies and record books; and may serve as a public address announcer, host, or emcee. Additionally, the role ensures timely completion of athletics content, upholds institutional brand and editorial standards, and supports coaches and staff in maintaining brand consistency.
A bachelor’s degree is required.
One or more years of related experience required.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Strong writing and analysis skills
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Canva, and Production Truck preferred.

This position has a budgeted hiring rate of $48,000. The position is classified as an A3. The A3 salary band for all full-time, 12-month positions at the college with this classification have a minimum rate of $45,000 and a maximum rate of $70,312.50. The actual schedule for exempt positions may vary based on the workload and responsibilities assigned.
