Athletic Trainer

Pflugerville Connally High School

Primary Purpose: 

Work under the direction of the team physicians to carry out activities in the following areas: prevention, evaluation, emergency treatment and rehabilitation of injuries. Provide instruction in Sports Medicine classes and in the supervision of the student athletic training program. 

Job Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • Valid license from Texas Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers

  • Current Professional Rescuer CPR and AED certification

  • NATA BOC Certification (preferred)

  • First Aid, CPR, AED Instructor (preferred)

  • Experience with a variety of sports, competition levels, etc.

  • TSATA Sports Medicine Instructor (preferred)

  • Certification must meet requirements for becoming and remaining qualified for this position in a manner required by Federal and/or State law

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide healthcare for various sport practices and games

  • Ability to provide emergency care

  • Day to day athletic training room duties 

  • Assisting in maintaining physicals, medical records and documenting using online sports tracking system

  • Supporting and assisting the administration in implementing all policies governing student-athletes

  • Detecting and resolving environmental risks to athletes

  • Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and ability to apply appropriate treatment to treat student athletic injuries

  • Establishing and maintaining rapport with athletic coaches, administration, students, parents and medical personnel

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, organization and communication

  • Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: 

  • Frequent prolonged and irregular hours 

  • Walking/Standing for long periods of time

  • Moderate lifting and carrying

  • Outdoor exposure to sun, heat, wind and cold

  • Frequent district-wide and statewide travel

Salary:

Teacher Base (187) $57,700 (+ possibility for TRA Retention Allotment) 

Athletic Training Stipend - $12,500
