Position Overview

Agawam Hunt Club is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Racquets Professional to support the Director of Racquets in delivering a high-quality racquets experience for our junior and adult members. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging racquets professional looking to develop their teaching, programming, event management, and club operations experience in a welcoming and active private club environment.

The Assistant Racquets Professional will play an important role in day-to-day programming, member engagement, junior development, adult clinics, and special events. The ideal candidate is energetic, personable, dependable, eager to learn, and passionate about tennis, pickleball, and helping members enjoy the game.

Key Responsibilities

Racquets Programming & Instruction

  • Assist the Director of Racquets with the daily operation of junior and adult racquets programs.
  • Teach private lessons, group lessons, clinics, and other programming based on experience and ability.
  • Provide adult clinic coverage and assist with expanding programming as participation grows.
  • Support junior programs and help create a positive, fun, and structured learning environment.
  • Encourage participation in tennis, pickleball, cardio tennis, and other racquets offerings.

Junior Programs & Events

  • Assist with organizing and running junior events, socials, round robins, match play, and seasonal activities.
  • Help maintain accurate junior program registrations and schedules.
  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding schedules, programs, and general questions.
  • Support the development of age- and ability-appropriate pathways for junior players.

Member Engagement

  • Develop positive relationships with members and provide friendly, professional service.
  • Promote racquets programs and encourage members to participate in lessons, clinics, and events.
  • Help support lesson growth through member interaction, follow-up, and excellent on-court experiences.
  • Work closely with the Director of Racquets and other professionals to create a welcoming and energetic racquets environment.

Club Events & Tournaments

  • Assist with club tournaments, mixers, socials, and special racquets events.
  • Help with registration, scheduling, court assignments, draws, promotion, and day-of event operations.
  • Bring new ideas and enthusiasm to events that increase participation and member enjoyment.

Program Administration

  • Assist with tracking program registrations and maintaining accurate records.
  • Support basic program billing and administrative responsibilities in coordination with Club administration.
  • Help monitor participation and provide information to the Director of Racquets regarding program trends and member interest.

Facility Operations

  • Serve as Manager on Duty during designated morning openings.
  • Open and inspect courts and racquets areas to ensure they are clean, safe, organized, and ready for programming.
  • Maintain teaching equipment, balls, and storage areas.
  • Communicate maintenance or facility concerns to the appropriate Club staff.
  • Follow all Club safety procedures and operational standards.

Qualifications & Attributes

  • Previous tennis, pickleball, coaching, or racquets experience preferred.
  • Strong playing ability and enthusiasm for racquet sports.
  • Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable interacting with members of all ages.
  • Dependable, organized, and willing to take initiative.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative member of the racquets team.
  • Willingness to learn the administrative and operational aspects of a private club.
  • Professional appearance, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.

This position is designed for an emerging or developing racquets professional. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow their teaching book, gain experience in program management and event operations, and develop professionally under the guidance of the Director of Racquets.

Compensation & Housing

Competitive hourly compensation with a housing stipend package available. Housing assistance may be structured as part of the overall compensation package and will count toward total compensation in exchange for agreed-upon hourly duties and responsibilities.

Additional opportunities for private lessons, clinics, events, and program development may be available based on experience, availability, and performance.

Schedule

The position will include a combination of weekday, evening, and weekend responsibilities based on the Club's programming calendar. Flexibility is important, particularly during the summer season, tournaments, junior events, and other peak racquets periods.
