PRIMARY PURPOSE
Provide comprehensive athletic training services to support the health and safety of student athletes. Plan, coordinate, and provide injury prevention, evaluation, emergency care, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning services. Maintain appropriate medical documentation and collaborate with students, parents, coaches, physicians, and athletic staff to support safe participation in athletic activities and compliance with district, UIL, and applicable state requirements.

Education/Certification
Bachelor’s degree
Valid Texas athletic trainer license
TSATA Sports Medicine Class
CPR/FA/AED Instructor
Hemorrhage Control/Stop the Bleed Instructor Training
Youth Mental Health First Aid Training
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to provide injury prevention and rehabilitation services
Ability to provide emergency care
Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and ability to apply appropriate treatment to treat student athletic injuries
Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes and assistants
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively use MFD, IASTM, and Manual Therapy Techniques
Experience
One year of experience as a licensed athletic trainer preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Athletic Training/Injury Prevention and Emergency Care
Attend practice sessions and athletic contests as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or Campus Athletic Coordinator.
Establish and maintain effective communication with students, parents, medical and paramedical personnel, coaches, and other staff.
Plan and implement a comprehensive athletic injury and illness prevention program for student athletes.
Provide therapeutic exercise and reconditioning for injured student athletes.
Fit injured athletes with specialized equipment and oversee its appropriate use.
Prepare athletes for practices and competitions by conducting evaluations and using tape, wraps, splints, braces, and other protective devices as needed.
Respond to medical emergencies and make timely, independent judgments regarding the immediate care of injured or ill student athletes.
Evaluate and assess acute injuries, provide appropriate first aid and emergency care, determine the need for additional medical evaluation, and determine appropriate participation restrictions within the athletic trainer's scope of practice.
Develop, maintain, and coordinate emergency action plans for athletic activities and ensure required emergency equipment is accessible and ready for use.
Identify and address environmental conditions that may pose a risk to student athletes, including heat-related risks, and implement appropriate safety measures in accordance with district, UIL, and state requirements.
Provide athletic training coverage for assigned practices, competitions, and other athletic activities, ensuring appropriate emergency equipment and resources are accessible and ready for use.
Implement and follow applicable concussion protocols and communicate participation restrictions and medical referrals to appropriate staff and parents.
Ensure appropriate hydration and heat-safety measures are available and implemented for athletic activities in accordance with district, UIL, and state requirements.
Rehabilitation/Reconditioning
Plan and coordinate comprehensive rehabilitation and reconditioning programs for injuries and illnesses sustained by student athletes.
Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans, including therapeutic goals and objectives, for student athletes receiving care.
Apply appropriate therapeutic modalities and instruct student athletes in therapeutic exercises and the proper use of rehabilitation equipment.
Evaluate, document, and communicate rehabilitation progress and establish appropriate criteria for progression and return to practice and competition.
Follow professional, ethical, legal, and medical guidelines regarding treatment, rehabilitation, and the use of therapeutic agents.
Provide reasonable opportunities for student athletes to receive evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation services before and after practices, competitions, and athletic periods, including additional treatment outside the regular school day when necessary.
Administration
Coordinate and maintain required athletic physical examinations, medical clearances, and other student-athlete health documentation.
Maintain accurate, current, and confidential injury, treatment, rehabilitation, accident, and medical records in accordance with district, UIL, and applicable legal requirements.
Maintain required student-athlete information and documentation in the district's designated athletic management system, including physicals, medical forms, injury and treatment information, and medical clearances.
Maintain accurate daily treatment logs and other required documentation.
Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and appropriately secured athletic training room.
Maintain an inventory of athletic training supplies and equipment and request replacement or replenishment as needed.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures, including procedures related to inclement weather and environmental conditions.
Prepare and maintain appropriate athletic training supplies, medical equipment, and emergency resources for home and away athletic activities.
Communicate athletic training coverage changes, significant injuries, treatment progress, and participation restrictions to appropriate coaches and athletic staff in a timely manner.
