Athletic Conference, invites applications for an Head Men's & Women's Swimming Summary
The Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of the men's and women's swimming and
diving program, including coaching, recruiting, student-athlete development, program
administration, budgeting, and NCAA compliance. The successful candidate will foster a
positive team culture that emphasizes academic success, sportsmanship, and competitive
excellence.
Essential Responsibilities
The essential functions of this position include instructing athletes on the rules, regulations,
and techniques of the sport; organizing and directing individual and group practices;
assessing swimmer skills, monitoring athletes during practices and competitions, and
tracking athletic performance as needed. The position is responsible for managing and
supervising appropriate staffing, including required lifeguards and qualified diving coaches at
all practices and competitions, maintaining current lifeguard certifications for all coaching
staff, and ensuring compliance with all NCAA requirements for coaches and student-athletes
on an annual basis. The coach will uphold all aspects of signed agreements between Franklin
College and Franklin Community Schools; develop and manage an approved budget with the
Director of Athletics, including operational expenses and fundraising activities; and create
and implement recruiting plans that meet or exceed established goals for both the men’s and
women’s programs. Additional responsibilities include maintaining regular and timely
attendance; managing team social media accounts; communicating practice changes, pool
closures, upcoming activities, and competitions to athletes and guardians; enforcing facility
and team rules; maintaining familiarity with facility Emergency Action Plans and responding
appropriately to emergencies; fostering a welcoming environment that supports athlete
retention; submitting accurate time, compliance, and expense reports; completing all
required training and certifications as required by the College, USA Swimming, and
applicable governing bodies; following all College policies and procedures; and performing
other duties as assigned. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a
minimum of four years of competitive swimming experience. College-level swimming
experience is preferred but not required. Previous coaching experience at the college, high
school, and/or club level is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate a positive
attitude, initiative, strong organizational skills, and effective written and oral communicationabilities, while promoting a balanced lifestyle and supporting the academic and personal
development of student-athletes.
