New Orleans, Louisiana, The Sun Belt Conference is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Commissioner for Championships and Membership Affairs. The anticipated start date is September 2026. The Conference Office is located in New Orleans, Louisiana inside the Caesar's Superdome. Primary Responsibilities
Assist in the day-to-day administration and management of Conference-sponsored sports, including, but not limited to the following:
Preparing sport regulations,
Monitoring and implementing NCAA playing rule changes, and
Educating campus staff on regular-season game management procedures including, but not limited to the following:
Processing schedule change requests,
Researching potential neutral sites, and
Preparing bid materials for institutions interested in hosting Conference championships.
Serve as the secondary administrator for the Sun Belt Men's and Women's Basketball Championships.
Plan, manage, coordinate, and administer select Olympic sport championship events including, but not limited to the following:
Coordinate with host institutions and neutral sites on all aspects of championship events,
Preparation of host and championship manuals,
Participate in site visits,
Manage event signage, awards, merchandise, and
Coordinate marketing and branding initiatives, hospitality, hotels, and transportation for Conference staff and officials.
Support the planning, coordination, and execution of select conference meetings included, but not limited to the following:
Develop comprehensive agendas and meeting materials based on input from Conference staff, coaches, and committees,
Conduct research to provide relevant insights, industry best practices, and national trends to inform meeting discussions and decision-making, and
Maintain accurate and consistent records by preparing detailed meeting reports and recording official votes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required (master's degree or other post-baccalaureate degree preferred.)
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop and InDesign) preferred.
Demonstrated leadership and management abilities.
Ability to travel extensively and work evenings and weekends as required.
Minimum of five years of experience in athletics administration and/or sports management required.
Experience in event management or game administration preferred.
