Job Description

Woodrow Wilson High School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered educator for a dual-role SPED Inclusion Teacher and Athletic Coach position within the Dallas ISD Athletics program. The ideal candidate will foster academic success in the classroom and champion athletic excellence on the field.
Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
Special Education Classroom Instruction
  • Modify Curricula: Collaborate with general education teachers to modify regular instructional materials.
  • IEP Compliance: Implement, track, and maintain students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Instructional Delivery: Employ diverse teaching methodologies and multimedia tools to accommodate learning styles.
  • Behavior Management: Manage student conduct and deliver crisis intervention or safety modifications per student IEP mandates.
  • Assessments: Perform formal and informal student testing to assess academic growth.
Athletic Coaching Responsibilities
  • Program Leadership: Lead athletic training sessions, clarify team strategies, and establish sportsmanship values.
  • Open Assignment: Serve as a coach for an designated sport, with a 2nd sport assignment open for allocation based on athletic department needs.
  • Compliance: Enforce all Texas University Intersocial League (UIL) rules, district athletic policies, and student-athlete academic eligibility standards.
  • Evaluations: Participate in performance reviews managed by the Campus Athletic Coordinator alongside the Dallas ISD Athletics Department.
Job Qualifications
Education & Certifications
  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Teaching License: Valid Texas State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) teaching certificate.
  • Specialization: Required Special Education endorsement or certification matching assigned high school grade levels.
  • Athletics: Valid CPR, First Aid, AED, and mandated UIL coaching certifications.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local special education laws and safety regulations.
  • Ability to interpret student psychological, behavioral, and educational data.
  • Strong communication skills for stakeholder interactions, including parents and administrators.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary parameters track authorized district framework policies:
  • Base Salary: New hire base compensation schedules align to the Dallas ISD Compensation Handbook market scales.
  • Stipends: Teachers fulfilling athletic coach positions earn contractual supplemental coaching stipends added directly to base pay.
  • Benefits: Enrollment options cover standard health insurance, TRS retirement benefits, and district incentive allotments.
