Job Description

Nationwide, The NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Committee is requesting applications from interested individuals to serve as the NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Rules Interpreter. The rules interpreter is the national interpreter for men’s gymnastics rules throughout the year, working with the NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Committee. This position is a one-year term, renewable each year. The official term will begin when the hiring process is completed (in a typical year, the term begins September 1). A stipend is paid during the official term. Reports to: NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Committee and NCAA national office staff with responsibilities to the Men’s Gymnastics Committee. Application Process: Please submit a cover letter, resume and list of references no later than August 7, 2026, to Alyssa Rice at arice@ncaa.org. Duties, Requirements and Responsibilities: a. Record rules modifications adopted by the committee and update the rules modifications document accordingly; b. Adhere to deadlines in submitting updated or new material for the modifications document; c. Ensure the technical accuracy of the rules; d. Act as the official interpreter of the rules between meetings of the committee; e. Prepare an agenda of proposed rules modifications for consideration by the committee at the annual meeting; f. Develop annual rules survey to be sent to coaches, administrators, officials and conference commissioners, as requested; g. Participate in videoconferences with divisional sport committee and NCAA staff liaisons, as requested; h. Attend (virtually or in-person) sport committees annual meetings, as requested; i. Attend Collegiate Gymnastics Association meeting, National Gymnastics Judges Association (NGJA), USA Gymnastics and annual NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Committee meeting to facilitate discussions on rules modifications, as requested; j. Communicate NCAA rules modifications to the governing sports authority responsible for rules education and video productions; k. Copy the NCAA staff liaison on rules interpretations given by email; l. Assist and coordinate rules test and training exercise for judges in conjunction with the NGJA; m. Serve as a liaison to USA Gymnastics and to ensure consistency and compliance with FIG rules, NCAA modifications, and NGJA/NCAA interpretations; n. Facilitate the NGJA/NCAA rules subcommittee for skill evaluation when needed; o. Cannot be an active NCAA coach or official; and p. Perform other duties as directed by the NCAA staff and/or the committee. Preferred Qualifications and Minimum Requirements: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to relate effectively with officials and coaches on a national level. Extensive knowledge of national, international, National Collegiate Men’s Gymnastics Championships and NCAA men’s gymnastics rules and modifications. Strong administrative and organizational skills. Ability to use email as a means of correspondence. Ability to use computer technology as a means of education. Experience in officiating or coaching at the collegiate level. Cannot be an active NCAA Men’s Gymnastics coach or official (required).
