Position Title: Athletic Trainer District: Dumas Independent School District Reports To: Athletic Director / Campus Principal

Position Summary Dumas ISD is seeking a certified Athletic Trainer to provide comprehensive sports medicine services to student‑athletes. The Athletic Trainer will oversee injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation, and will coordinate care with coaches, school personnel, and families to support safe participation in all athletics programs.

Key Responsibilities Sports Medicine & Athlete Care • Provide immediate care for athletic injuries and illnesses during practices, games, and athletic events. • Conduct injury evaluations and make return‑to‑play decisions in accordance with professional standards and district/UIL policies. • Design and supervise injury prevention programs (taping, bracing, warm‑up, conditioning guidance). • Develop and implement rehabilitation plans, including therapeutic exercises and modalities within scope of practice. • Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organized athletic training room and satellite facilities. Coverage & Event Management • Provide on‑site coverage for home contests and designated practices (priority to collision/contact sports and higher‑risk activities). • Coordinate emergency action plans (EAPs) for all athletic venues and ensure coaches know their roles. • Prepare for events with appropriate supplies, emergency equipment, and hydration. • Assist in coordinating medical coverage for playoff contests, tournaments, and summer activities as assigned. Communication & Documentation • Maintain accurate and timely injury, treatment, and rehabilitation records. • Communicate regularly with coaches regarding athlete injuries, restrictions, and return‑to‑play timelines. • Serve as a liaison among physicians, physical therapists, parents/guardians, nurses, and school staff. • Educate athletes and parents on injury management, concussion awareness, heat illness, and overall wellness. Program Coordination & Compliance • Support compliance with UIL, state, and district policies related to athletic health and safety (e.g., concussion protocols, heat/hydration, cardiac safety). • Assist with pre‑participation physicals and medical paperwork collection and verification. • Help manage inventory, ordering, and maintenance of athletic training supplies and equipment. • Participate in district and campus safety planning and health initiatives related to athletics. Education & Collaboration • Educate coaches and athletes on proper techniques to reduce risk of injury. • Provide in‑service training for coaches on first aid, concussion guidelines, EAPs, and basic sports medicine topics. • Collaborate with strength and conditioning staff (if applicable) to align training with athlete safety. • Model professionalism, ethics, and appropriate interactions with student‑athletes.

Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited institution. • Current certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the BOC. • Texas licensure (LAT) or eligibility for Texas licensure by the start date. • CPR/AED and First Aid certification. • Strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with coaches and staff.

Preferred Qualifications • Previous experience as an athletic trainer at the high school or collegiate level. • Experience working within a multi‑sport high school environment. • Familiarity with UIL rules and high school athletic structures in Texas. • Experience developing and implementing EAPs and safety protocols for multiple venues.

Work Schedule & Expectations • Full‑time position aligned with the Dumas ISD calendar, with extended hours during athletic seasons. • Afternoon, evening, and weekend responsibilities for practices, games, and tournaments. • Summer duties for strength/conditioning, camps, and physicals as assigned.

Compensation • Salary based on Dumas ISD salary schedule and experience. • Stipend(s) may be available for athletic training responsibilities as determined by the district.
