General Purpose:

Assists the Director in designing, planning and implementing racquets programs to include special events, clinics, and daily member play.

 Essential Duties:

·       Oversees the activities of the racquets staff professionals and assists with staff training and performance development.

·       Schedules the racquets staff professionals for duties both on and off the racquets courts.

·       Assists the Director of Racquets in developing racquets club programs and special events.

·       Plans all new member evaluations.

·       Performs private and group racquets lessons to racquets club members and guests, as well as conducts seminars for members, as directed.

·       Provides assistance to the Director of Racquets with operating racquets tournaments and charity events.

·       Acts as liaison to the Team Racquets program, oversees all charges for practices, and acts as a conduit for all team communications. 

·       Works in concert with the Racquets Concierge to organize racquets members' games.

·       Promotes the racquets department programs using sound business practices.

·       Monitors business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.

·       Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve member and guest satisfaction.

·       Responsible to assist Director of Racquets with interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

·       Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Racquets Instructors, Racquets Shop staff, Maintenance staff and maintenance operations.

·       Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Assists with development of ongoing training programs.

·       Regular and reliable attendance.

·       Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.

·       Performs other duties as assigned.

  Education/Experience:

·         Associate’s degree (AA); and three to five years related experience as a Racquets Professional/Instructor; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Similar country club environment experience required.

·         A university tennis playing background is preferred but not essential.

·         A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Head Racquets Professional, Head Tennis Professional, Director of Racquets, or in a similar leadership role is preferred.

·         Pickleball teaching and programming experience is preferred.

  Certificates/Licenses:

·         CPR and First Aid Certification required.

·         RSPA Elite Professional certification (formerly USPTA Elite Professional) or equivalent professional racquets certification required.

 Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:

•      Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g., associates may be required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers, and equipment manuals may be in English).

•      Possess a U.S.T.A. rating of 4.5 or higher.

•      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

•      Demonstrated leadership experience managing racquets operations, staff, programs, and special events.

•      Knowledge of and experience with both tennis and pickleball programming, instruction, and member engagement.
