Job Description

Westerville, Ohio, Otterbein University is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Associate Head Coach / Head Coach, Women's Wrestling to lead and support its NCAA Division III Women's Wrestling program. The women's wrestling team competes as a representative of Otterbein University and adheres to NCAA requirements as an emerging sport. The Associate Head Coach / Head Coach will work in conjunction with the Director of Wrestling Operations to oversee recruiting, coaching, program management, student-athlete development, and compliance efforts while advancing the mission and values of Otterbein University and NCAA Division III athletics. The official title will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, exempt position. RESPONSIBILITIES   Recruiting Lead recruiting efforts to attract quality academic students who are also competitive student-athletes. Coaching & Instruction Lead the scheduling and development of practices. Lead team and individual practice sessions. Participate in an annual review of the season with the Director of Athletics. Learn, understand, and comply with all NCAA, Ohio Athletic Conference, and Otterbein University rules and regulations. Successfully complete NCAA educational modules on an annual basis. Program Management Lead scheduling of all competitive events and facilities. Coordinate transportation, lodging, and meal arrangements for away contests, subject to budget approval. Complete expense reports associated with home and away competitions. Purchase, issue, maintain, and collect team uniforms and equipment. Oversee budget-related activities. Notify administration of significant athletic, academic, or civic accomplishments achieved by team members. Develop and implement fundraising initiatives that support the program. Student-Athlete Support & Monitoring Monitor, advise, and support student-athletes in their academic pursuits. Educate and advise student-athletes regarding expectations in the classroom, during competition and practice, and within campus and community settings. Communicate significant student-athlete achievements to administration. Perform other related duties as assigned.   QUALIFICATIONS   Education & Experience Bachelor's degree required. Experience coaching wrestling, including experience at an educational institution. Knowledge of recruiting and strategies for retaining quality student-athletes. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Commitment to the values of NCAA Division III athletics. Experience in leadership and mentoring roles. Position Title Determination Candidates with three or more years of qualified coaching experience will be designated as  Head Coach  under the Director of Wrestling Operations. Candidates with fewer than three years of qualified coaching experience will be designated as  Associate Head Coach  under the Director of Wrestling Operations, with the opportunity to earn the Head Coach title through demonstrated success. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, sit, reach, and use repetitive motions of the hands and wrists. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, or bend. Regular and predictable attendance is required.
