Piscataway, New Jersey, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Business Specialist for the Athletics Business Office. This position will report to the Asst Director-Supervisor and assist in day to day business operations including athletics general accounting and procurement (P2P).
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Contributes to the development of the annual department budget.
Monitors and analyzes all revenues for Athletics and reporting crucial numbers to the Athletics Business Office.
Maintains a comprehensive database of deposit history while adhering to all University PCI and Cash Handling guidelines.
Handles the various accounting, administrative, and reporting items related to funds received from the Rutgers University Foundation.
Saves all new fund documents and providing project setup information to the University Controller’s Office.
Prepares monthly gift assessment entries and for preparing various reports at the request of Administration related to current restricted and endowment funds.
Prepares and submits all Ticket Office/Business Office deposits for funds received via wire transfer, credit card, check/cash through the ticketing system, University Treasury and other external sources.
Ensures the accuracy, reconciliation and any needed adjustments of the deposits.
Oversees general accounting and Procurement (P2P) functions, serving as the primary point of contact for the Football program including the vendor management, processing of purchase orders, invoices, facilitating credit card payments, and the like.
Works with independent thinking/decision making including making budgetary decisions up to certain internal thresholds and providing input for annual expense budgeting.
Acts as the primary contact for Football within the Athletics Business Office and it will require a substantial amount of attention to detail and time management skills in order to successfully provide support to the Football program as well as the ability to prioritize tasks in the most efficient way possible.
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Two (2) years’ experience in a relevant accounting or business operations role.
Strong computer, oral and written communication skills with a working knowledge of accounting and basic financial management systems.
