Graduate Assistant- Athletic Communications | Henderson State University

Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Henderson State Athletics is seeking a graduate assistant in the Sports Information office beginning Fall 2026. This unique position allows the selected candidate to gain hands-on experience in the world of intercollegiate athletics while also earning a tuition-free master’s degree in Sports Administration over a two-year period from Henderson State. The selected candidate will serve alongside the Assistant Athletics Director for Communications and Sports Information as well as another Graduate Assistant for either Athletic Communications or Creative Content. Job Description: The graduate assistant will be primarily responsible for multiple sports TBD daily as well as assisting with other sports and aspects of the athletic department. The candidate should have strong sports writing skills, as well as a familiarity with graphic design and knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, or similar programs. Experience with video editing and photography is a plus. Applicant should be familiar with social media including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, the maintenance of the athletic department web page, desktop publishing, writing game day stories and feature stories, game day setup, live streaming and live stats. Travel is at the discretion of the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Sports Information. Applicant must be available to work evenings and weekends and some holidays as required. Qualifications : The position is contingent on application and admission into Henderson State’s Graduate School. The candidate must have strong computer skills and be highly organized with the ability to multitask. A strong writing background and communication skills are a must. Statistical background using NCAA Live Stats programs is a plus. Previous experience as a sports information student assistant at the collegiate level is preferred.
