Athens, Ohio, This position reports to the Head Cross Country and Track and assisting the head coach in the effective management and administration of all aspects relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate experience for student-athletes. The secondary role is providing strength and conditioning performance coaching expertise to assigned student-athletes of the intercollegiate athletics program.
Primary accountabilities:
1. Teaching and coaching student-athletes in order to develop and acquire the extensive tactical, technical and physical knowledge required to be a competitive Division I intercollegiate level student-athlete. Responsible for skill instruction during individual and team practices and intercollegiate athletic competitions.
2. Talent assessment and recruiting. Assists in conducting a successful recruiting program to identify and cultivate outstanding student-athletes to Ohio University.
3. In collaboration with the Sport Performance team, teach, motivate, and coach student-athletes in the development of technical and physical knowledge and athletic performance as it relates to performance enhancement and injury prevention to compete as Division I intercollegiate level student-athlete. Plans strength and conditioning regimens per team and/or individual student-athlete. Monitors progress/results and adjusts plan accordingly.
4. Ensure the program is in compliance with NCAA, Mid-American Conference and Ohio University regulations.
Bachelor’s degree required. A minimum of one (1) year of coaching experience required. The targeted salary for this position is $38,115.
