Hayward Hills, California, THE OPPORTUNITY
California State University, East Bay (Cal State East Bay/CSUEB) is seeking a Senior Associate Athletic Director (SAAD) for Administration and Operations to serve as a member of the Athletic Department Administrative team and independently coordinate the management of athletic Administration and Operations. The SAAD for Administration and Operations is a valuable member of the Athletic Director’s leadership team and participates in the development and execution of department programs, policies, and procedures. This position serves as the primary administrator for designated sport oversight, including but not limited to supervision of head coaches, monitoring budgets, developing schedules, approving team travel and expenses, overseeing student-athlete wellness, and evaluating the success of program outcomes.
ABOUT CSEUB ATHLETICS
CSUEB sponsors 14 intercollegiate sport programs. The Pioneers made the transition back to NCAA Division II during the 2009-10 season after a 10-year absence. CSUEB was accepted as an active member of the NCAA Division II in 2011 and is currently in its 14th year of eligibility for conference and NCAA championships. The Pioneers have a cumulative GPA of 3.4.
CSUEB is a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), which has won 152 NCAA championships in its 76-year history, the most of any Division II conference. Since 1961, the Pioneers have won a total of six team national collegiate championships and seven individual national championships. CSUEB has produced over 240 All-Americans and has won 82 conference championships in NCAA Divisions II and III, as well as in the NationNal Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The SAAD for Administration and Operations will oversee the daily operations of athletic facilities, including scheduling, maintenance, outside rentals, and revenue generation, and serves as the primary contact for the Athletic Department in collaboration with campus partners. This position is responsible for oversight of capital planning, facilities operation and management, camps, and outside rentals. The SAAD Administration and Operations participates in strategic planning both for the Athletic Department and the institutional physical plant as necessary. The individual works in collaboration with the Athletics Leadership team to execute Advancement, revenue generation, and sponsorship initiatives.
This position is responsible for the oversight of department physical assets including but not limited to equipment, promotional material, and sponsorships. By extension, this position directly supervises any staff responsible for the care of said assets. The SAAD Administration and Operations works in partnership with the Facilities team for the maintenance of athletic facilities.
The SAAD Administration and Operations is responsible for overseeing the execution of home contest management and special events, including managing the staff team, overseeing department program calendars, overseeing game-day preparation, and submitting postseason hosting bids. Serves on NCAA, CCAA, and university committees as assigned. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilities Management
Manages day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of athletic facilities
Responsible for the scheduling of facilities including but not limited to working with coaches, staff, campus partners, and outside renters
Serves as the primary department contact for campus facilities
Works in conjunction with FD&O to manage work orders, repair projects, and regular maintenance
Oversight of facilities and equipment budgets
Responsible for management, storage, procurement, and assessment of equipment
Serves as lead for capital projects and planning
Responsible for strategic planning of facilities usage for revenue generation and sponsorships
Operations
Oversight of home contest management including staffing, training, scheduling, and procedures
Responsible for management of equipment, and promotional merchandise including the direct supervision of equipment managers, laundry staff, etc.
In collaboration with Athletics leadership team, creates department policies and procedures
Oversight of intern and student-worker staff
In collaboration with Sports Information Director, create and manage department event calendars
Department Administration
Serves on Athletics leadership team including
Consultation on staffing and adjustments to organizational chart
Development and curating of department policies and procedures
Cultivation of standards and benchmarks for program as a whole and individual sports
Provides insight into department culture initiatives
Takes a leading role in executing department tactical plan
Participates in department strategic planning
Forecasts vision for department direction and fit for institutional long-term initiatives
Anticipates roadblocks for designated responsibilities in sustainable execution of outcomes
Assists in identifying opportunity areas for department priorities
Consults as requested by Athletic Director for high-level programming and communication
Serves as the Athletic Department representative on relevant institutional committees and initiatives
Athletics liaison with Facilities department
Consults as requested with Budget & Finance department
Serves on planning, hiring, and programming committees as designated
Acts as designated administrator internally as necessary
Serves as Administrator on Site for designated events
Serves in leadership capacities as designated for department initiatives
Executes department Advancement and revenue generation initiatives
Sport and Coach Supervision
Serve as sport supervisor as assigned
Responsible for working with head coaches in program management, planning, and budget oversight
Attends necessary competitions for designated sports
Provides ongoing oversight to head coaches and completes necessary end-of-year evaluations
Other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred or commen-surate with experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work with diverse populations
Strong organizational skills
Understanding of athletic facilities needs
Knowledge of NCAA requirements/standards of competition
Ability to contribute to a professional organization
Technology literate in standard office programs and basic project management (job-specific) software
SALARY AND BENEFITS
This position is a Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position in the CSU, reports to the Associate Vice President for Athletics, and serves at the pleasure of the President. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
