Charlotte, North Carolina, Under the guidance and direction of the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Marketing and Communications Associate assists with external and internal marketing and communications in key functional areas including but not limited to press releases; membership communications; sponsor/partner communications; championship marketing; social media; website content management; media inquiries; publications; digital graphic creation; and communications strategic planning.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
•Assist with all aspects of press releases and external communications pertaining to association announcements, sponsor/partner announcements, national championships, newsletters, NJCAA Foundation, association events, and human-interest story press releases.
•Coordinate with all national partners and sponsors for communication to membership and marketing deliverables.
•Support the marketing and communications team in the following key areas: membership communications, championship marketing/communications, website content management, digital content creation and social media.
•Assist with developing and managing national championship marketing and communications.
•Monitor the NJCAA social platforms for needed releases and media analytics.
•Collaborate with other departments to produce copy for collateral and publications, in addition to supporting the strategy and brand initiatives of senior leadership.
•Assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership.
•Coordinate communications to NJCAA membership including but not limited to athletic directors, coaches, and region leadership.
•Photograph all NJCAA Foundation and Convention events. Responsible for website updates regarding headshots of all National Office staff members.
•Manage NJCAA Foundation website including press releases, updates, and website build.
Bachelor’s degree required, a focus on communications, marketing, journalism or marketing preferred.
Previous professional experience in the communications field with responsibility for a combination of duties involving press releases, newsletters, publications, copy editing, email communications, digital content creation and website management preferred.
Demonstrated customer service, organization, leadership, planning, and conflict management.
Proficient with digital graphic design tools, including Adobe Creative Suite software and Canva to produce and create compelling, on-brand, visual content and materials
A good command of Microsoft Office current social media platforms and media monitoring platforms preferred.
Still photography and editing preferred
The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to establish positive public relations and to interact effectively with staff, member colleges, athletic directors, student athletes, fans and the public.
