New York, New York, Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Head Coach/Athletics Director/Deputy Athletics Director, the Assistant Coach of the women's soccer program will assist in the operations, management, coaching, and cultivation of a competitive and successful Division III team and set of student-athletes.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:
- Must be available for weekday practices from 7:00-9:00am as well as weekday and weekend games.
- Support and monitor the academic progress and success of student-athletes
- Help plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions, including warm-ups, drills, and
conditioning; develop and implement game strategies and player assignments
- Analyze video and statistical data to further develop and improve individual as well
as team performances
- Assist in the supervision of practice sessions, competitions, scheduling, and team travel
- Coordinate player development through skill enhancement in training sessions
- Assist head coach in conducting pre-season, in-season and post-season player and
team evaluations
- Support the head coach in identifying and recruiting qualified student-athletes
who meet academic and athletic standards
- Help in the monitoring, identification, and evaluation of prospective student-athletes for the program
- Assist in team travel logistics, including transportation (driving vans), lodging, and meals
- Help assist in managing program budgets, forecasting, and operational planning
- Assist in continued monitoring of team’s recruiting database and assist in
coordinating on-campus recruiting visits for prospects
- Help organize and support fundraising initiatives and alumni engagement efforts
- Develop team-building activities and community outreach programs
- Assist with budgeting, communications, and other athletic department tasks as
needed
- Engage in professional development opportunities
- Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, City University of New York (CUNY), CUNY Athletic Conference, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA Division III) policies and procedures.
- This position will require night and weekend work, and potential overnight travel. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution • Prior coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate or high school level • Demonstrated knowledge of soccer training and competition • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills • Travel is also required. A valid drivers’ license and ability to drive a vehicle is required.
Preferred: • Previous collegiate assistant coaching experience • Recruiting experience at the collegiate level • CPR/AED and First Aid certification • Coaching certification (e.g., NCAA, NSCAA, USSF) and CPR/AED certification. Professional Development and recruiting budget available.
