East Lansing, Michigan, Michigan State Athletics is seeking a full-time Creative Video Production Intern to help tell the next generation of Spartan stories. This position will work within Spartan Vision and support content tied to team storytelling, student-athlete visibility, fan engagement, partnership opportunities, and the continued development of Spartan Ventures. The role is designed for an emerging creative professional who wants to grow as a shooter, editor, producer, and storyteller inside a major Big Ten athletics department. Position Overview The Creative Video Production Intern will work within Spartan Vision, Michigan State Athletics’ creative video, live production, and storytelling unit. This role will help produce content across a variety of platforms, including social media, digital features, documentary storytelling, department-wide brand initiatives, and sponsored/recruiting content. This position will have opportunities to travel and contribute to both short-form and long-form storytelling, including content for Spartans All-Access, team-specific campaigns, revenue and partnership initiatives, and emerging content needs connected to Spartan Ventures. The right candidate is a strong visual storyteller who brings creative ideas, curiosity, attention to detail, and a desire to grow. Key Responsibilities  Responsibilities may include:  Shoot and edit video content for Michigan State Athletics teams, student-athletes, coaches, partners, and department initiatives.  Assist with long-form storytelling, including documentary-style features and episodes of Spartans All-Access.  Produce short-form content for social media, web, and digital campaigns.  Support content tied to Spartan Ventures, including sponsor integration, partnership storytelling, revenue-generating initiatives, and brand-building campaigns.  Travel with assigned teams when needed to capture behind-the-scenes, game day, feature, and social content.  Collaborate with Spartan Vision, Creative Solutions, Social Media, Marketing, Communications, Spartan Athletic Foundation, and other internal units.  Help develop creative concepts, shot lists, interview setups, and production plans.  Capture interviews, practices, games, events, community moments, and other storytelling opportunities.  Assist with lighting, audio, camera operation, file management, archiving, and post-production workflows.  Edit content using Adobe Creative Cloud and other department-supported platforms.  Maintain professionalism and discretion when working around student-athletes, coaches, staff, recruits, donors, partners, and sensitive department information.  Support nights, weekends, holidays, and event-based coverage as assigned.   What You Will Gain  This internship is built to provide meaningful professional development, not just task completion. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:  Build a diverse reel with social, cinematic, documentary, partnership, and team-based content.  Gain experience inside a Big Ten athletics creative operation.  Learn how content supports brand growth, fan engagement, recruiting, revenue generation, and partner relationships.  Work directly with student-athletes, coaches, creative staff, and athletics leadership initiatives.  Develop stronger skills in shooting, editing, storytelling, production planning, and creative collaboration.  Understand the pace, standards, and expectations of working in a high-profile athletics environment.   Required Qualifications  Bachelor’s degree completed by start date.  Experience shooting and editing video content.  Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Premiere Pro.  Experience creating short-form social content and/or narrative video features.  Strong visual storytelling skills.  Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.  Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.  Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and travel as needed.  Demonstrated professionalism, good judgment, and discretion.   Preferred Qualifications  Experience working in sports, athletics, media, creative production, or brand storytelling.  Experience with Sony cameras or similar cinema/video camera systems.  Experience with lighting, audio, interviews, and documentary-style production.  Familiarity with Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom, or other creative tools.  Experience creating content for social platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X.  Interest in sports business, brand marketing, sponsorship, fan engagement, or revenue-driven content.  Familiarity with platforms such as SIDEARM, WSC, Slate, Wrike, or other content/project management tools.   Compensation and Schedule  This is a paid, full-time internship structured as a nine-month hourly position at approximately 40 hours per week.  The position will include regular office hours as well as nights, weekends, holidays, and team travel as assigned.
