Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, CLASSIFICATION: Administrative DEPARTMENT: Athletics & Recreation FLSA STATUS: Exempt SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the direction of the Director of Athletics. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervision of programs, staff, student workers, and game management workers. POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Athletic Director reports to the Director of Athletics and Recreation and is responsible for representing the issues related to athletics programs, helping to create a positive educational and competitive athletic experience for the student athletes. The Assistant Director is expected to be involved in all operations of the college athletics program and provide input to the director on overall policy and budget. The Assistant Athletic Director will serve as a member of the Athletics Leadership Team and as game administrator when needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as the primary contact for the Department of Athletics for all inquiries, providing daily oversight of the Athletics main office, and responding to questions and requests from internal and external constituents. Manage all scheduling of all athletic facilities, including practices, games and rental requests (internal and external) of Moravian University’s athletic facilities. Manage and coordinate all game day support needs. This includes officials, game day staff including student workers, the department ticketing system, Hometown Ticketing, contests set-up and transportation needs for Moravian athletic teams. Plan, coordinate, and execute all football game day operations for all home contests as the site manager. Develop plans for the recruitment, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating of student employees. Maintain records and process necessary documentation for payroll. Assist in the planning and execution of all Landmark Conference and NCAA Tournaments. Manage the on/off boarding of all full time and part time employees. Plan, execute, and assist with departmental special events including but not limited to the Moravian Athletics Hall of Fame, Moravian Athletics Golf Tournament, and the All-Athlete Banquet. Serves as the Athletic Department’s liaison to assist with administrative duties including but not limited to purchase orders, invoices, department deliveries, team meal money, petty cash requests, and the ordering of departmental supplies. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation. Understand and comply with NCAA Division III, Landmark conference, and University rules and regulations. QUALIFICATIONS: Education - Bachelor's degree required, masters preferred Experience - At least two years experience in higher education or intercollegiate athletics is strongly preferred. This position demands excellent organizational skills as well as superior interpersonal skills (verbal and written) along with the ability and desire to work closely with all constituencies of the University including staff, faculty, current students, the general public and prospective student-athletes (and their families). Requires a team player that can multitask and work within firm deadlines while maintaining strict confidentiality. Excellent computer literacy; the ability to work with databases; proficient with word processing and spreadsheets. Experience working with Oracle and Teamworks is a plus. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered.
