Position Title: Head Softball Coach / Special Education Teacher
Location: Lake Dallas High School
Reports To: Principal, Athletic Director, and Special Education Director
Lake Dallas High School is seeking a highly motivated, student-centered educator to serve as our Head Softball Coach and Special Education Teacher. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about developing successful student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a culture of accountability, sportsmanship, and academic excellence.
Lead and oversee all aspects of the high school softball program.
Develop and implement a year-round program that emphasizes skill development, strength and conditioning, and character.
Coordinate and supervise offseason workouts, camps, and clinics.
Build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, faculty, and the community.
Collaborate with middle school and youth programs to promote continuity and program growth.
Ensure compliance with all district, state, and athletic association rules and regulations.
Maintain equipment, uniforms, and program inventory.
Promote academic success, leadership, and positive citizenship among student-athletes.
Provide specialized instruction for students receiving special education services.
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with students, parents, and support staff.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Collaborate with general education teachers to support student achievement.
Foster an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
Valid state teaching certification in Special Education (or ability to obtain).
Valid coaching certification as required by the state and district.
Previous coaching experience preferred, with head coaching experience highly desirable.
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Commitment to building a positive, competitive, and student-focused athletic program.
Ability to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, parents, and the community.
Experience building or revitalizing an athletic program.
Knowledge of current softball training techniques and player development.
Experience working with diverse learners and implementing effective instructional strategies.
Salary and coaching stipend are based on district salary schedule and coaching supplement.
