La Crosse, Wisconsin, Position Overview
This full-time, permanent 12-month exempt position offers an exciting opportunity to lead media relations, marketing, promotions, and digital content efforts for our athletic programs. As a key member of our team, you'll manage everything from game-day statistics and post-event coverage to website management, social media strategy, and event promotions - helping to showcase and celebrate the achievements of V-Hawk student-athletes on campus and in the community.
Athletics Communication Responsibilities:
Compile statistics for all home athletic events and share with local, conference, and national media.
Write and publish post-event recaps, social media posts, and press releases for all events.
Establish relationships with local television, newspaper, radio, and other media outlets.
Manage all aspects of athletics website content including scores, photos, and post-game recaps.
Maintain all athletics related historical data and statistics.
Oversee all department social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, others.
Coordinate all live-streaming for all home events.
Submit required conference and national statistics, photos, nominations, and stories for website.
Coordinate department photography including head shots, action photos, and team photos.
Promote and strengthen the brand of Viterbo athletics through messaging and promotions.
Produce all print and electronic publications of athletic department events and special events.
Hire, train, and supervise athletics communication staff to help fulfill office tasks
Administrative and Leadership Responsibilities
Serve on the athletics administrative team and assist with planning signature events such as Athletics Golf Outing, Wall of Fame, and Athletics Honors Banquet (Victor Awards).
Provide guidance, training, and leadership for the athletics communication student-workers.
Serve as the department lead official for the athletic team rosters and scheduled athletic events.
Assist University and athletics department staff with providing data and information related to internal or external department reports.
Carry out other responsibilities as delegated or assigned by the Associate Athletics Director.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred. Background and experience in athletic communications desired; demonstrated knowledge and experience with the duties of the position including good written, oral and interpersonal skills; proficiency in computer use including Microsoft Office applications and Presto Sports software desired; demonstrated reliability and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; Willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
