New plan aims to strengthen instruction and staffing at Ted Polk Middle School
During the June 4 board meeting, Trustees unanimously approved a strategic staffing support plan for Ted Polk Middle School. The initiative aims to strengthen classroom instruction, implement strategic staffing, and ensure all students have access to high-quality learning opportunities. As the district reviews available resources for this plan—capped at $250,000 annually—the initiative will also focus on building upon Polk's already successful AVID and fine arts programs.

This plan is a proactive step toward boosting the campus accountability rating, especially as the school navigates an increase in students requiring mandated accelerated instruction under HB 1416. To attract and retain high-performing educators, the district is introducing a two-year tiered stipend structure.

  • $5,000: Core classroom teachers
  • $3,000: Counselors and instructional deans
  • $1,000: Complimentary subject teachers
