The University Club of Palo Alto is seeking an energetic, professional, and service-oriented Tennis Professional to join our proven staff & thriving club. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated teaching professional looking to build a thriving lesson business in one of the Bay Area’s premier private club environments.

Position Summary

The Tennis Professional will provide private lessons, group clinics, member events, and instructional programming for players of all ages and skill levels. The successful candidate will be passionate about teaching, committed to delivering exceptional member experiences, and eager to grow participation within the club.

Compensation

  • Commission-based compensation ($75K+ immediate earning potential)
  • Significant earning potential through private lessons, clinics, and group programming
  • Benefits become available upon attaining full-time employment status

Responsibilities

  • Conduct private and semi-private lessons for adults and juniors
  • Lead group clinics, drills, and specialty programs
  • Assist with club tennis events, mixers, and tournaments
  • Foster member engagement and retention through exceptional customer service
  • Promote tennis participation and help grow instructional programs
  • Maintain a professional presence on and off the court
  • Collaborate with the Director of Tennis and Racquet Sports staff

Qualifications

  • USPTA or PTR certification preferred
  • Strong playing and teaching background
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends 
  • Passion for member service and player development
  • Experience teaching players of varying ages and abilities
