Core Responsibilities: Teaching
- Lesson Planning: Create and deliver interactive lesson plans in history, geography, and civics that adhere to state standards.
- Student Assessment: Evaluate academic progress using quizzes, tests, projects, and standardized testing data.
- Differentiation: Adapt instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs and varying reading/comprehension levels.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive environment conducive to adolescent development.
Core Responsibilities: Coaching
- Athletic Instruction: Teach sport-specific skills, rules, and fundamental techniques to middle school athletes.
- Program Management: Oversee practice schedules, game logistics, equipment inventory, and facility setup.
- Student-Athlete Mentorship: Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and academic accountability among students.
- Compliance: Enforce athletic department and state-level (e.g., UIL) regulations, including eligibility rules and physical/medical clearance. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Certification: Valid State Teaching Certification in the appropriate content area (e.g., Social Studies, History). A physical education endorsement or coaching certification may be required depending on your state.
- Clearance: Clean background check and fingerprint clearance.
- First Aid/CPR: Current CPR and First Aid certification (usually required prior to the start of the sports season)
