Position Summary
The Head Boys & Girls Tennis Coach is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all aspects of the high school tennis program for both boys and girls. The coach will foster athletic excellence, academic achievement, sportsmanship, and character development while ensuring compliance with all district, state, and governing body regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive tennis program that promotes skill development, competitive success, and student-athlete growth.
- Coordinate and supervise all aspects of the boys' and girls' tennis programs, including practices, competitions, conditioning, and offseason activities.
- Establish program goals and evaluate progress throughout the season.
- Promote a positive team culture emphasizing integrity, discipline, teamwork, and respect.
Coaching Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct effective daily practices focused on individual and team development.
- Teach proper tennis techniques, strategies, rules, and sportsmanship.
- Evaluate player performance and make lineup decisions based on skill, effort, and team needs.
- Prepare athletes for district, regional, and state competition.
- Ensure student-athlete safety through proper training methods and supervision.
Student Development
- Encourage academic success and monitor athlete eligibility requirements.
- Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
- Support leadership development, character education, and responsible decision-making among team members.
- Maintain effective communication with athletes and parents regarding expectations and program activities.
Administrative Duties
- Manage program budgets, equipment inventories, uniforms, and facilities.
- Coordinate tournament schedules, travel arrangements, and transportation needs.
- Maintain accurate records, statistics, eligibility documentation, and required reports.
- Ensure compliance with all district policies, UIL regulations, and applicable state requirements.
- Assist with athletic department initiatives and responsibilities as assigned.
Community and Program Promotion
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, community members, and booster organizations.
- Promote tennis participation and program visibility throughout the district.
- Support athletic department fundraising and community engagement efforts.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate or ability to meet district coaching requirements.
- Knowledge of tennis fundamentals, coaching techniques, and player development.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
Preferred
- Previous successful high school or collegiate coaching experience.
- Experience managing a comprehensive tennis program.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate tennis techniques and participate in practice activities.
- Ability to stand, walk, and supervise outdoor activities for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.

Salary
Salary will be based on district compensation schedules, experience, and applicable coaching stipends.
