Football Defensive Line Assistant/2nd Sport

Job Description

Humble High School is seeking a passionate, energetic, and student-centered Defensive Line Coach to join our football staff. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing defensive linemen at the varsity and sub-varsity levels while contributing to the overall success of the football program and athletic department. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence, character development, academic achievement, and building positive relationships with student-athletes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Coaching Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop defensive linemen within the program's defensive scheme and philosophy.
  • Plan and implement position-specific drills, techniques, and practice activities.
  • Develop players' fundamentals, including stance, alignment, hand placement, block destruction, pass rush techniques, and tackling.
  • Assist with game planning, film breakdown, scouting reports, and opponent analysis.
  • Evaluate and monitor player development throughout the season and offseason.
  • Support strength and conditioning programs during offseason and summer workouts.
  • Assist with recruiting and retention of student-athletes within the football program.
  • Maintain high standards of sportsmanship, discipline, and accountability.

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Serve as a classroom teacher in an assigned subject area based on certification and campus needs.
  • Develop and deliver engaging instruction aligned with district and state standards.
  • Monitor student academic progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment.

Program Expectations

  • Promote the mission and values of Humble ISD and Humble High School.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, staff, and administration.
  • Attend faculty meetings, athletic department meetings, and professional development activities.
  • Assist with athletic events and other duties as assigned by the Athletic Coordinator and Head Coach.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Texas teaching certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Ability to meet all UIL and district coaching requirements.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • Previous experience coaching defensive line at the high school or collegiate level.
  • Experience with film analysis platforms such as Hudl.
  • Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles.
  • Demonstrated success in player development and program building.

Compensation

Salary and coaching stipend will be commensurate with experience and in accordance with Humble ISD salary schedules and district guidelines.
