Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, The University of Pennsylvania provides a wide array of athletic opportunities on both the intercollegiate and recreational levels which will enhance and enrich the educational experience of our students, as well as provide recreational and fitness facilities and activities for the entire University community. This position is responsible for oversight of all aspects of Women's Rowing program including recruiting, coaching, and counseling of student-athletes. Oversee fiscal responsibilities pertaining to preparing, monitoring, and verifying expenditures associated with program. Provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student athletes. Direct and coordinate the rowing staff including planning ,organization, and coaching of the rowing team. Support fundraising efforts for ongoing operation of rowing program. Evaluate and implement innovations in rowing strategy and equipment.
Coach and instruct student-athletes in sport-specific skills, training techniques, and strategies through preparation, practice, and competition (race strategy), providing guidance in both group and individual settings.
Recruit national-caliber student-athletes b identifying, evaluating, and vetting prospects, coordinating communications and visits, and collaborating with admissions and financial aid to support enrollment.
Collaborate with departmental staff to support operations, ensure compliance with NCAA, Ivy League, and University policies.
Supervise staff and direct the day-to-day activities, and manages the performance of rowing staff.
Lead the team’s travel planning, paperwork, budget management, and other administrative duties.
Raise funds by cultivating relationships with major gift donors.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Bachelor of Science and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
3 to 5 years of coaching experience required, preferably on the collegiate level.
Candidate should be able to motivate recruits, athletes, and alumni to support the program enthusiastically.
Knowledge of NCAA/Ivy League policies and procedures preferred.
Strong communication, public relations, and management skills are highly desirable.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
Ability to work with a diverse campus constituency; including students, parents, coaches, faculty, staff and alumni.
A valid drivers license required.
