North Charleston, South Carolina, Summary: Reporting to the Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach the Assistant Golf Coach will be a contract employee. The Assistant Coach will uphold and assist the Head Coach, his vision, and the mission of Charleston Southern University’s Division I Men’s and Women’s Golf programs. The Assistant Coach will understand and embrace the academic and Christian mission of Charleston Southern University, including the role that Athletics serves to support that mission.
Work Performed:
Program Assistance
Collaborate with Athletic and Administrative staff to advance the goals/mission/core values of the University and department
Provide Christ-like mentorship of student athletes in accordance with the mission and values of the University
Enables the achievement of quality, competitive sports program and supports the educational goals of individual student athletes by demonstrating a coaching philosophy which encourages those goals and promotes an environment conductive to both
Follows the standards set forth by the Head Coach as it relates to a positive image in the areas of personal behavior, conduct, and appearance on and off the University campus, participating in community and professional organizations, representing the University at professional meetings and on community committees
Understanding of NCAA, Big South Conference, and CSU rules and regulations governing member institutions
Disciple and assist with character development of student athletes
Coaching: Training and Game Planning
Assist in skill instruction, player development, coaching practices of student athletes concerning tactical and technical strategies
Ability to effectively scout and game plan for tournaments
Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach
Assists the head coach with supervising student-athletes during practice and competition
Recruiting
Contribute in all recruiting efforts of program and identifying potential student athletes to fill needs in order to enhance the program
Conduct unofficial and official visits following approval from the CSU Compliance Department
Remain current and proactive in NCAA and conference legislation on recruiting practices and guidelines
Program Operations
Protect the integrity of the sport coached and the reputation of the intercollegiate athletics program of the University by ensuring that recruiting activities, student-athlete eligibility determination, scholarships and financial aid programs, scheduled practice sessions, and related activities governed by the NCAA are in compliance with NCAA rules and regulations as well as applicable conference rules and University policies.
Oversee on campus housing efforts of student athletes in Liaison with CSU Compliance Department
Assist head coach with other administrative duties as assigned
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
