Bel Air, Maryland, Job Description: The Head Coach provides instruction to athletes; is responsible for recruiting and retaining student athletes in an effort to provide opportunities for team and individual academic and athletic success; organizes and conducts practices & competitions; assists with the hiring of assistant coaches; ensures adherence to the NJCAA Code of Ethics; supports and participates in development, fundraising and corporate sponsorship efforts in partnership with the Harford Community College Foundation; and performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. Assistance and awareness of the academic success of student athletes is a priority for all coaches. Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement. Required Education: A high School diploma or GED and a minimum of 60 college credits Required Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience, to include a combination of active game situation coaching at the high school, club/select, or collegiate level and professional playing/coaching experience; experience with recruiting efforts and student-athlete retention; and experience and participation in development, fundraising and corporate sponsorship efforts. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The Head Coach must possess expertise in softball or baseball, demonstrate excellence in coaching and instruction during practices and contests, and serve as a positive leader and role model. Other requirements include: A valid driver's license and a good driving record with fewer than three points CPR , First Aid and AED certifications required Demonstrated expertise in sports strategies. Excellent and effective communication skills Prior experience with recruiting efforts and student-athlete retention Prior experience and participation in development, fundraising and corporate sponsorship efforts.
