Athletics & athletic facilities
Gregory-Portland ISD is a proud home of the Wildcats, offering a first-class athletic experience for student-athletes and fans. From upgraded stadium facilities and well-maintained fields and courts to modern weight rooms and training spaces, GPISD invests in the tools needed to compete at a high level. Like you see at top Texas high school programs, Friday nights and tournament days are true community events, with facilities designed to showcase athletes’ talents and create an electric game-day atmosphere.
The district overall
GPISD is a student-centered district that combines small-town relationships with big-school opportunities. The district emphasizes rigorous academics, career and technical programs, and fine arts, backed by teachers and staff who know their students by name. Much like successful districts across Texas that consistently send graduates to college, the military, and the workforce, Gregory-Portland ISD focuses on the whole child—preparing them to lead, serve, and succeed long after they leave campus.
Why it’s great to coach & live there
Coaching and living in Gregory-Portland means being part of a true Texas coastal community where sports matter and people take care of each other. Coaches benefit from strong administrative support, passionate booster clubs, and fans who fill the stands the way you’d see in tradition-rich programs across the state. Off the field, the community offers affordable living, access to the Gulf Coast, and a family-friendly environment—making it a place where coaches can build both winning programs and a lasting home.
