Richardson, Texas, The assistant softball coaching position supports the head coach in developing and maintaining a softball program that is athletically competitive within the Lone Star Conference (LSC) and NCAA Division II.
The assistant coach works closely with the head coach to maintain an atmosphere within the UTD Department of Intercollegiate Athletics that is consistent with the mission of UTD and operates the program within the mission, policies, bylaws, regulations and interpretations of UTD Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the LSC and NCAA Division II.
Supports head coach in the administrative aspects of the intercollegiate softball program, including scheduling, recruiting, team/equipment management, budgeting, and the direction of UTD-identified athletic/sport camps; Annually pass the NCAA Coach’s Certification Exam; Represents the department and university in a professional and ethical manner; Agrees to abide by the Code of Ethics as set forth by the University of Texas at Dallas and the University of Texas System; Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems; Complies with all State and University policies; Other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics. Bachelor’s degree and minimum of two years previous coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level with a knowledge and commitment to NCAA Division II rules.
Candidates with master’s degree and 3-5 years collegiate coaching experience, preferably at the NCAA Division I or II level, will receive immediate consideration.
Expected to work extended hours, early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays during athletic seasons. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs., travel on a bus or in vans for an extended period of time, and must be able to stand on feet outside (if applicable) for a long period of time. Must be able to work on a team, and adjust to schedules that may change.
