Canadian ISD is seeking a passionate and organized Head Softball Coach to lead and grow our softball program while teaching in a core academic subject (any core certification). This coach will direct MS softball in the fall and HS softball in the spring, with the opportunity to contribute to HS football in the fall in a role that best fits the candidate’s strengths and experience.

Our high school will compete in UIL 3A as one of the smallest schools in the division. Softball is a relatively young program (9 years), and we have advanced to the playoffs the last two seasons, including winning the first two playoff games in school history this year. We are looking for a leader who can build on this momentum and continue to elevate the program.

Coaching Responsibilities – Softball

• Serve as Head Coach for HS softball and program lead for MS softball.
• This position could also include assistant football responsibilities if desired.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive, year-round plan for skill development, strength and conditioning, and culture-building within our softball program.
• Coordinate all aspects of the program, including practice planning, game strategy, scouting, player development, and off-season workouts.
• Teach fundamentals with progression from MS to HS, ensuring alignment of philosophy and terminology.
• Promote high standards of sportsmanship, accountability, and academic achievement.
• Communicate consistently with athletes, parents, and staff.
• Oversee equipment inventory, field use, and collaboration with administration on scheduling.

Teaching Assignment

• Teaching field: Open 
• Provide engaging, standards-based instruction and maintain high expectations in the classroom.
• Support campus-wide academic and behavioral expectations.

Qualifications

• Valid Texas teaching certificate in a core academic area (or ability to obtain).
• Previous softball coaching experience (head or assistant) preferred; high school experience strongly considered.
• Demonstrated ability to teach fundamentals, build culture, and develop student-athletes at multiple levels (MS and HS).
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Commitment to multi-sport participation and collaboration with other sports.
