Job Requirements and Qualifications
To practice as a Head Athletic Trainer in a Texas public school, applicants must meet all Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) requirements.
* License: Must hold a valid Texas State Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) credential (or be eligible to obtain it before the start date).
* Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or a related field.
* Certifications: Current Professional Rescuer CPR/AED certification, and completed Texas Human Trafficking Prevention training.
* Experience: Previous experience as a Head AT or Varsity Assistant AT preferred, with a strong background in program management and student-athlete care.
Note: National Certification (ATC) is highly welcomed, but a Texas State LAT license is mandatory.
Primary Responsibilities
* Oversee and manage the comprehensive athletic training program for all student-athletes.
* Prevent, recognize, assess, manage, and rehabilitate athletic injuries.
* Provide immediate emergency care during practices and athletic events.
* Coordinate scheduling, maintain accurate medical records, and communicate effectively with team physicians, parents, and coaching staff.
