Towson University, a Division I member of the Coastal Athletic Association, is seeking a Head Baseball Coach. This position will manage all aspects of TU's NCAA Division I baseball program, including recruiting, coaching, planning practices and competition, scheduling, and managing program budgets.
Responsibilities and Duties
Organize, conduct, and supervise all aspects of the intercollegiate baseball program to include: skill instruction, practices, student-athlete strength & conditioning, competition scheduling, competition preparation and competition day coaching and participation within designated conference and NCAA meetings
Organize, strategize and supervise all aspects of recruitment and evaluation of prospective student-athletes
Provide appropriate leadership, direction and supervision relevant to the academic progress of student-athletes within the baseball program. Additionally, provide direction and appropriate follow-up to discipline/conduct for the program's student-athletes
Adhere to all University, conference and NCAA rules and requirements relevant to the overall conduct of the intercollegiate baseball program
Provide appropriate leadership to ensure a quality student-athlete experience that develops the Total Tiger through campus and community involvement as well as competition in their sport and academic achievement
Collaborate with Sports Medicine as well as Speed, Strength & Conditioning staff to ensure health and safety as well as athletic development of student-athlete
Prepare designated information relevant to budgets, equipment needs, travel advances/reconciliations, prospective student-athlete recruitment records and other program areas
Work with Development staff to establish relationships with alumni and other friends of the program; to identify potential donors to the program
Oversee and assign responsibilities to the assistant coaches, supervise all aspects of their work performances and conduct performance evaluations
Represent the Department of Athletics, and the baseball program at specified University, department, media and community functions and events
The work hours for this position will vary based on competition schedule. Travel is required.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree
Three years of collegiate or professional baseball coaching.
Ability to train and recruit at the Division I collegiate level
Ability to accept and carry out assigned program and responsibilities
Ability to communicate effectively and work well with students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community
Ability to pass the NCAA recruiting test and have a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
Ability to work collaboratively within the structure and framework of an Athletics Department and University
Display a demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically
Demonstrate commitment to building a positive team culture, and commitment to personal and professional development of student-athletes
Preferred qualifications:
Master's degree
Experience as a Division I student-athlete
Salary and Benefits Targeted hiring range is $120,000 - $137,000 and University benefits that up to 17 holidays, and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
