Assistant AD/ Head Baseball Coach

Job Description

1. POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Athletic Director & Head Baseball Coach is a dual-responsibility leadership role within Legacy Christian Academy Eagle Athletics. The individual in this role serves as a key member of the athletic administration team while simultaneously leading the LCA varsity baseball program from the 7th grade development pipeline through varsity competition.

 This position operates under the LCA athletic culture framework and is responsible for upholding the program’s Kingdom Vision: developing leaders who embody Christ-like values — integrity, humility, love, and faithfulness — as armored warriors equipped to glorify God through athletics.

 The successful candidate will be a covenant partner who leads with biblical conviction, possesses elite baseball knowledge, builds a brotherhood culture, communicates proactively, and develops every student-athlete — spiritually, academically, and physically.

2. REPORTING STRUCTURE & SUPERVISION

Reports To

•     Senior Director of Athletics, Legacy Christian Academy

Direct Oversight Of

•     Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School baseball coaching staff

•     Baseball program student managers and volunteer assistants

•     Assigned athletic department administrative functions

Internal Partners

•     LCA Principal and Academic Leadership

•     Middle School Athletic Coordinators

•     Teaching Faculty (student-athlete academic monitoring)

•     Parents/Guardians of student-athletes

•     LCA Booster Club and community partners

3. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties are divided across two primary functional areas. Both are considered essential and equally critical to success in this role.

4. Athletic Administration

•     Assist the Senior Director of Athletics in the day-to-day operations, scheduling, and oversight of the LCA athletic department

•     Coordinate facility reservations, game-day logistics, transportation, and event management for assigned sports

•     Ensure full compliance with TAPPS 6A eligibility rules, conduct standards, and reporting requirements

•     Serve as a liaison between coaches, athletic administration, academic staff, and families

•     Assist in the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of assistant coaches across athletic programs

•     Maintain accurate records for student-athlete eligibility, waivers, physicals, and participation

•     Support the planning and execution of athletic department events, awards ceremonies, and community initiatives

•     Represent LCA Athletics professionally at TAPPS meetings, conferences, and community functions

5. Head Baseball Coach — Varsity Program

•     Lead all facets of the LCA varsity baseball program with a culture-first, Christ-centered approach

•     Design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive practice plans built on elite Baseball IQ, fundamental execution, and situational awareness

•     Manage pitching rotations, defensive systems, and offensive strategy at a competitive TAPPS 6A level

•     Champion a professional arm care and strength & conditioning program that prioritizes athlete longevity and injury prevention

•     Oversee vertical alignment and talent development across the 7th–12th grade pipeline in partnership with middle school coordinators

•     Guide college-ready athletes through the NCAA and NAIA recruiting process; maintain knowledge of current eligibility and recruiting rules

•     Conduct individual player evaluations and communicate development plans clearly with athletes and families

•     Manage equipment inventory, budget requests, and facilities upkeep for the baseball program

•     Schedule and coordinate non-district competition, showcases, and tournament participation

6. Spiritual Leadership & Character Development

•     Model Christ-like character through Extreme Ownership in all coaching interactions, wins, and losses

•     Actively separate a player’s identity from their performance; shepherd athletes through adversity with truth spoken in love

•     Partner with LCA administration and parents to build trust, accountability, and peer-to-peer leadership among student-athletes

•     Participate in team devotionals, chapel, and faith-based programming as appropriate

7. Parent & Community Communication

•     Establish and maintain proactive, transparent, and professional communication with all player families

•     Conduct pre-season parent meetings to set program expectations, culture standards, and communication protocols

•     Represent the LCA brand and Eagle Athletics identity with excellence at all competitions.

8. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required

•     Active, demonstrable Christian faith consistent with LCA’s Statement of Faith

•     Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

•     Minimum three (3) years of coaching experience at the high school level or above

•     Strong working knowledge of baseball tactics: pitching development, defensive systems, situational hitting, and in-game management

•     Demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive team culture

•     Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfort with parent-facing and administrative communication

•     Ability to pass all required background checks and meet LCA employment standards

9. Preferred

•     Prior varsity head coaching experience with a documented track record of player and culture development

•     Experience in athletic administration, athletic director support, or program operations

•     Knowledge of NCAA and NAIA recruiting rules; experience guiding student-athletes through the college recruitment process

•     TAPPS coaching experience or equivalent private Christian school athletic experience

10. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

•     Work schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays during athletic seasons and as required by administrative duties

•     Frequent outdoor work in varying weather conditions during practices and games

•     Regular travel required for away competition, tournaments, recruiting events, and TAPPS meetings

•     Physical ability to demonstrate baseball techniques and participate in practice activities as needed

•     Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs on a routine basis

Pay Range: 85-100K (Based on experience)
