Assistant Girls Basketball Coach / Special Education Inclusion Teacher (Grades 9–12)

Position Overview

Denton High School is seeking a highly motivated and student-centered professional to serve as an Assistant Girls Basketball Coach and Special Education Inclusion Teacher for grades 9–12. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to academic and athletic excellence while building positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.

Primary Responsibilities

Coaching Duties

• Assist with all aspects of the girls basketball program, including practice planning, skill development, scouting, game preparation, and program organization
• Promote character development, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among student-athletes
• Support offseason strength and conditioning programs, summer activities, and player development
• Assist with supervision of athletes during practices, games, travel, and school activities
• Collaborate with head coach and athletic staff to support the overall success of the athletic program

Teaching Duties

• Provide inclusion support and instructional accommodations for students receiving special education services in general education classrooms
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administrators to implement IEP accommodations and modifications
• Monitor student progress and maintain required documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
• Build positive relationships with students while maintaining high academic and behavioral expectations
• Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment focused on student growth and success

Qualifications

• Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate Special Education certification
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
• Commitment to academic achievement and student development
