Carlinville, Illinois, Job Title: Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine (Full-Time, 12-Month Appointment, Salary ($60,000-$70,000)

Position Overview: The Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine plays a critical role in fostering a safe, healthy, and high-performing environment for student-athletes. This position collaborates closely with coaches, athletic staff, healthcare providers, and campus partners to ensure comprehensive holistic care, injury prevention, and effective treatment. The role also serves as a key resource for addressing student-athlete health needs that extend beyond the scope of athletic training. The Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine plays an important role in shaping the direction of the department by contributing to major decisions, informing long-range planning, and helping develop and execute the strategic vision for Blackburn Athletics.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and strategic direction for all Sports Medicine and Athletic Training operations.
• Administers and oversees the care, prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries to all student-athletes
• Oversee insurance coverage, professional and student staffing, budgeting, and compliance with NCAA guidelines
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices related to studentathlete health and safety
• Oversee athletic training staff and student workers.
• Maintain regular communication with coaches and staff to support student-athlete well-being
• Develops and maintains emergency action plans for all practice and competition venues in accordance with College risk management guidelines and state regulations.
• Develops and maintains all department guidelines, policy and procedure in accordance with NCAA best practices.
• Coordinates the purchasing and use of all equipment and supplies needed for the operation of the athletic training facility.
• Responsible for supporting the holistic development of student-athletes, with a focus on physical and mental wellness and academic success.
• Will serve as part of the Athletic Department leadership team and on key committees across campus. Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Athletic Training or a related field
• Minimum of three-five (3-5) years of experience in athletic training
• Certified by the National Athletic Training Association - Board of Certification. Eligible for Illinois Licensure.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, including student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and healthcare providers
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with electronic medical records and relevant technologies
• Working knowledge of NCAA regulations, including concussion protocols
