Job Description

Position: Defensive Coordinator (Full-Time or Stipend Position)

Location: Victoria East High School (5AD1), Victoria, Texas

Victoria East High School is seeking a passionate, energetic, and relational Defensive Coordinator to lead our defensive program.

Position Overview

We are looking for a high-energy coach who lives and breathes defense, loves developing teenagers, and thrives on building strong, trusting relationships. This is more than a coaching job — it’s an opportunity to pour into young people, help them reach their full potential, and be part of a program that values people first.

Key Responsibilities

•  Design, install, and teach a championship-level defensive scheme

•  Lead all defensive position groups and coordinate game-day defensive strategy

•  Develop players fundamentally, technically, and mentally

•  Build strong, authentic relationships with players, parents, and staff

•  Assist with special teams duties as needed

•  Help maintain a culture of discipline, accountability, and relentless effort

•  Support player academic progress and eligibility

•  Participate in off-season strength & conditioning, film study, scouting, and recruiting

What We’re Looking For

•  Passionate about football and coaching — someone who brings genuine enthusiasm every single day

•  Relational — a coach who connects deeply with kids, earns their trust, and becomes a mentor they remember for life

•  Energetic — high-motor leader who brings positive energy, intensity, and competitiveness to practice and games

•  Committed to developing kids — both as football players and as young men of character

•  Strong communicator and teacher who can break down complex concepts clearly

•  Team player who works collaboratively with the entire coaching staff

•  Previous defensive coaching experience preferred (high school or college)

•  Must meet all UIL and Victoria ISD coaching certification/employment requirements
