Oskaloosa , Iowa, JOB TITLE: Head Women’s Wrestling Coach JOB SUMMARY: WPU strives to create a vibrant learning community for all members, including students, staff, and faculty. DEPARMENT: Athletics Send all application materials to grant.farris@wmpenn.edu QUALIFICATIONS: A. Education • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree Preferred. B. Experience • Coaching experience required. College coaching experience preferred. C. Abilities • Demonstrated talent in building cohesive teams; • Independent decision making and ability to exercise good judgment, and use of critical thinking skills, • Ability to work in an environment of shifting priorities, frequent interruptions, hectic pace, and interaction with students, staff, alumni, and the public; • Good written and oral communication skills; • Demonstrate the ability to be a positive team member; • Ability to work independently and as a team member to complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines; • Organizational skills, time management, relationship building, and communication skills essential; • Ability to handle highly confidential matters and materials with discretion; • Willingness to work long hours. REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics SUPERVISES: Assistant Coaches, Graduate Assistant coaches, Student Coaches and Managers PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: •Awarding institutional funds. •Administer the program to be in total compliance with William Penn, NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) and HAAC regulations and guidelines. •Monitor and stay within the parameters of your budget. •Maintain the scholarship average designated by the university for all student-athletes in your program. •Lead recruiting and retaining student-athlete efforts. •Attend Athletic Department meetings. •Coordinate travel plans with the Transportation Director. •Be a positive role model for athletes and monitor discipline procedures within your sport. •Coordinate and oversee an ethical process for recruiting and retaining student-athletes for your program, meeting recruitment goals set by the university. •Encourage/monitor attendance and academic performance. •Assist with annual inventory. •Conduct yourself in a professional manner and display good sportsmanship at all times. •Fulfill all obligations, as established by your program, for the NAIA Champions of Character initiative. •Be loyal and supportive of the Staff, Faculty and Administration. •Always follow the Chain of Command. •Cooperate and communicate with the Training Staff •Assist with the supervision of other athletic events as needed by the administration. •All Other duties as assigned.
