Tyler High School is seeking a dedicated and energetic Defensive Football Coach with possible DC Title. Position to be determined by best fit and second sport will be track. This individual will assist in maintaining a highly competitive Football & Track program while supporting the academic and personal development of student-athletes. The teaching assignment is Health, Physical Education or Social Studies.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in all aspects of the program to ensure program alignment in grades 7–12
- Help plan, organize, and conduct practices, games, and offseason programs
- Support strength and conditioning initiatives in coordination with athletic staff
- Promote athlete development, sportsmanship, and UIL compliance
- Assist with scouting, film breakdown, and game preparation
- Maintain positive relationships with athletes, parents, staff, and community
- Monitor academic progress of student-athletes and support “Successful Student Outcomes”
Qualifications:
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain)
- Must have or be willing to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Coaching experience preferred (football background strongly encouraged)
- Knowledge of University Interscholastic League rules and regulations
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a total athletic program
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working within a feeder system (middle school to high school alignment)
- Background in strength and conditioning or skill development
- Commitment to year-round program development
