Position Overview

Schulenburg High School is seeking a high-energy, dedicated professional to join our coaching staff as the Offensive Coordinator for Football and the Head Track & Field Coach. The successful candidate will be a master tactician on the field and an impactful educator in the classroom, helping to maintain the proud "Shorthorn" tradition of excellence.

Teaching Fields Available

Applicants must be certified (or eligible for certification) in one of the following areas:

  • Social Studies (Composite or specific concentrations)

  • Mathematics

  • Special Education

Core Responsibilities

Football: Offensive Coordinator

  • Offensive Strategy & Playbook: Design and implement a comprehensive offensive system tailored to the strengths of the current roster.

  • Game Planning: Conduct detailed film study of opponents to identify defensive tendencies and create weekly game plans to exploit weaknesses.

  • In-Game Play-Calling: Serve as the primary play-caller on game days, making real-time adjustments based on defensive shifts and game flow.

  • Practice Planning: Organize and lead offensive practice segments, prioritizing timing, execution, and fundamental skill development.

  • Staff Supervision: Oversee and coordinate offensive position coaches (QB, WR, OL, etc.) to ensure cohesive instruction.

Track & Field: Head Coach

  • Program Leadership: Direct all aspects of the Boys Track & Field program, including meet scheduling, event assignments, and off-season conditioning.

  • Technical Instruction: Provide expert coaching across various disciplines (sprints, jumps, throws, or hurdles).

General Athletic & Academic Duties

  • Student-Athlete Development: Mentor players academically while fostering character development and athletic growth.

  • Administrative Duties: Assist with equipment inventory, statistical analysis, and strict compliance with UIL and district athletic rules.

  • Community Engagement: Maintain professional communication with parents, faculty, and the Schulenburg community.

Qualifications

  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in Social Studies, Math, or Special Education.

  • Proven experience in high school football coaching (coordinator experience preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of UIL rules and regulations.

  • Ability to motivate and lead diverse groups of student-athletes.

  • CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements (or willingness to obtain).
