Position Summary
Perryton ISD is seeking a dynamic, dedicated educator and coach to join our athletic department at the junior high level. This position involves coaching boys' sports (potential areas include football, basketball, and track) and providing quality instruction in an assigned teaching field. The ideal candidate will build a positive, character-driven environment, fostering both athletic skills and academic growth in our student-athletes.
Qualifications
  • Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements (TEKS).
  • Coaching Certification: Valid First Aid/CPR/AED certificate (or willing to obtain).
  • Special Knowledge/Skills:
    • Knowledge of UIL rules and regulations for junior high sports.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to motivate student-athletes and manage student behavior.
  • Experience: Student teaching, approved internship, or previous coaching experience preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Coaching Responsibilities
  • Coach and instruct junior high student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for success.
  • Develop and implement practice plans, manage equipment, and oversee team safety.
  • Foster a competitive yet inclusive team environment focused on sportsmanship and character development.
  • Collaborate with high school staff to ensure program alignment.
Instructional Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans for assigned subject area that fulfill district requirements.
  • Work cooperatively with special education staff to modify curricula as needed (IEP compliance).
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement.
