Perryton Independent School District (PISD) is seeking a dedicated High School Assistant Basketball Coach to support program growth, skill development, and academic success for the 2026-2027 season. Job Title: Assistant Basketball Coach / Teacher
Location: Perryton High School, Perryton, TX
Position Type: Full-time (Teacher + Coaching Stipend)
The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach with organizing practices, developing individual skills, implementing strategies, and overseeing Junior Varsity or Freshman teams. The focus is on preparing student-athletes for competition while teaching teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic responsibility.
- Coaching & Development: Lead, instruct, and evaluate student-athletes during practices and games to enhance performance.
- Strategy & Game Plan: Assist the head coach with game scouting, strategy formulation, and game-day logistics.
- Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records of inventory, student eligibility, and team statistics.
- Community & Student Support: Build positive relationships with students, parents, and the community to strengthen the basketball program.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce all UIL regulations and PISD safety procedures.
- Certification: Valid Texas teaching certificate or planning to obtain a certification (as required for subject area).
- Experience: Previous experience coaching basketball at the high school level is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of UIL rules and techniques of basketball.
- Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and organization skills.
