Position Overview

North Zulch ISD is seeking a passionate and student-centered Head Girls Basketball Coach who will lead, develop, and grow our girls basketball program while serving as a classroom teacher in an open teaching field based on certification.

Primary Responsibilities

Athletics (Head Girls Basketball)

• Serve as Head Coach for the North Zulch ISD girls basketball program (grades 7–12 as applicable)

• Develop and implement a comprehensive basketball program aligned with district expectations and UIL guidelines

• Teach fundamental skills, teamwork, discipline, and character development

• Organize and lead practices, games, offseason programs, and strength/conditioning (as appropriate)

• Coordinate scheduling, equipment, and program needs

• Build and sustain a positive program culture focused on accountability, effort, and pride

• Encourage and support multi-sport participation in a small school environment

• Foster strong relationships with athletes, parents, and the community

• Ensure compliance with all UIL, district, and campus policies

Teaching (Open Field)

• Provide high-quality instruction aligned to Texas standards in assigned subject area

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that support student growth

• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs

• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance

• Collaborate with colleagues to support campus and district goals

• Create a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment

Additional Duties

• Assist with other athletic programs as needed

• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events

• Support district initiatives aligned to the North Zulch ISD Systems Plan

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Athletic Director

Qualifications

• Valid Texas Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain)

• Coaching experience preferred, especially in basketball

• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and program development

• Ability to work effectively in a small school setting with shared responsibilities

• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills

• Commitment to building relationships with students, staff, and community
