Job Description

Position Summary: Seeking a focused, experienced Quarterbacks Coach to develop and mentor high school quarterbacks in mechanics, decision-making, leadership, and film study. The QB Coach will design position-specific instruction, collaborate on passing-game strategy, and promote academic and personal growth consistent with school and district standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct QB‑specific drills and instructional sessions emphasizing footwork, throwing mechanics, pocket presence, ball security, progression reads, timing, and situational decision‑making.
  • Develop individualized development plans for each quarterback; track progress in practice, games, and film review.
  • Work closely with the offensive coordinator and head coach on game planning, play design, progressions, protections, and audible/tempo systems.
  • Lead pregame QB preparation, in‑game communication with signal callers, and halftime adjustments for the quarterback group.
  • Teach leadership, communication, clock management, and on-field composure.
  • Scout opposing defenses with focus on coverages, blitz patterns, and tendencies that affect QB reads and protections.
  • Integrate film study into weekly development; use technology and analytics as available to improve performance.
  • Assist with strength & conditioning, position meetings, and offseason quarterback camps/throwing programs.
  • Enforce team rules, safety protocols, and academic eligibility standards; maintain regular communication with players, parents, and school staff.
  • Maintain equipment safety and complete required coaching certifications, background checks, and district‑mandated training.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college playing or coaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quarterback mechanics, offensive systems, and passing‑game strategy.
  • Prior experience coaching quarterbacks at the high school level (preferred).
  • Strong communication, teaching, and leadership skills; ability to relate to student‑athletes.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel with the team.
  • Meet Hempstead ISD coaching/teacher certification requirements or ability to obtain necessary permits.
  • Pass required background checks and health/physical requirements per district policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing varsity QBs and working within spread/pro-style offenses.
  • Familiarity with film review software, QB tracking tools, and analytics.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to demonstrate drills, throw with quarterbacks, and participate in on-field instruction.
  • Ability to be outdoors for practices and games in Texas weather.

Compensation:

  • Stipend/placement per Hempstead ISD coaching pay scale (commensurate with experience). Benefits per district policy.
