Sauk Valley Community College (SVCC) seeks an innovative, dedicated individual to fill the adjunct opening for Assistant Softball Coach. Join us in developing student-athletes both on and off the field!
Position Overview
The Assistant Softball Coach provides support and assistance with all aspects of the softball program to help create and sustain a competitive intercollegiate program at SVCC. This position instructs student-athletes in the rules and fundamentals of softball while also working to develop the whole student both in and out of the classroom. The Assistant Coach should be available for team practices and softball events held in the evenings and weekends from September to April.
Salary Note: This is a part-time position with an annual contractual salary of $11,600. The contract is renewed annually.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
The duties encompass coaching, recruitment, administration, and compliance for a varsity intercollegiate program.
What You’ll Do
Support the Head Coach in the daily operation of a competitive NJCAA Division I softball program.
Plan, conduct, and assist with practices, skill instruction, and game-day strategy.
Assist with recruitment of players.
Mentor student-athletes in academic success, personal development, and leadership.
Assist with holding players accountable for ethical behavior.
Ensure compliance with all NJCAA Division I and institutional rules.
Assist with camps, clinics, community engagement activities, and fundraising events.
Serve as a positive role model who reflects SVCC’s mission, values, and commitment to inclusive excellence.
What We’re Looking For
Collegiate playing or coaching experience preferred.
Working knowledge of softball techniques, strategy, and skill development.
Maintain team statistics and complete statistical entries via NJCAA requirements as requested by Head Coach.
Ability to teach, motivate, and care for student-athletes.
Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
Understanding of (or ability to quickly learn) NJCAA Division I rules.
Ability to evaluate talent and recruit student-athletes who will succeed academically and athletically.
Must hold a valid driver’s license and pass a motor-vehicle check.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
Must be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification per NJCAA requirements.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree.
Physical Requirements
Combination of office work and outdoor practice/field responsibilities.
Ability to demonstrate softball skills, which may involve physical exertion.
Exposure to outdoor weather, field conditions, and minor environmental hazards.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. of equipment.
