We are seeking a high-energy, passionate Head Track & Field Coach committed to build and grow our track program. This position requires a coach who thrives in a small-school environment, can develop multi-sport athletes, and is dedicated to creating a culture of effort, toughness, and team pride.  email resume to csexton@normangeeisd.org

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the track & field program (7–12)
  • Plan and implement efficient, well-organized practices that maximize development across all event areas
  • Teach fundamentals and technique for sprints, distance, jumps, and throws with an emphasis on overall athletic development
  • Set clear expectations for effort, attitude, discipline, and accountability

Program Building & Growth:

  • Recruit and retain student-athletes, with a strong emphasis on multi-sport participation
  • Build the program from the ground up by increasing numbers, competitiveness, and visibility
  • Develop a culture centered on toughness, consistency, and a team first mentality
  • Establish continuity from junior high through varsity
  • Promote the program within the school to encourage participation and pride

Expectations:

  • Ability to coach or assist in multiple event areas based on program needs
  • Work collaboratively with other coaches to support year-round athlete development
  • Be flexible, resourceful, and solutions-oriented in a limited-resource environment
  • Maximize athlete potential through fundamentals, effort, and consistency

Student-Athlete Development:

  • Emphasize character, leadership, and academic success
  • Build strong relationships with student-athletes to encourage growth and retention
  • Develop confidence and competitiveness in all athletes, regardless of experience level

Administrative Duties:

  • Coordinate meet entries, travel, equipment, and facility needs
  • Organize practice schedules that accommodate multi-sport athletes
  • Ensure compliance with UIL, district, and school policies

Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certificate (or ability to obtain)
  • Coaching experience preferred, with knowledge of multiple track & field events
  • CDL or ability to obtain (preferred)
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
  • Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
